SorSU-CoTEd joins CODTE V General Assembly — CoTEd Dean Dr. Garcia, Jr. elected as CODTE V PIO for 2025-2027

Themed “A Journey and Milestone of Highly Proficient Teacher Professionals,” Sorsogon State University – College of Teacher Education (SorSU-CoTEd), headed by Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, CoTEd), alongside CoTEd faculty members: Prof. Dr. Fely A. Habla (Program Chair, BTVTED), Prof. Susan Mae A. Jamoralin (Program Chair, BPED/BCAED), Prof. Edna Marie L. Mijares, and Prof. Karina D. Belardo, attended the Council of Deans for Teacher Education (Region V), Inc. (CODTE V) General Assembly on February 8, 2025, at the La Roca, Gogon, Legazpi City, Albay.

The regional general assembly included a talk session led by Dr. Carl E. Balita (President & CEO, Carl E. Balita Review Center), titled “From Standing to Outstanding,” which resonated deeply with the attendees, providing them with valuable insights and inspiration to strive for excellence in the field teacher education.


Meanwhile, Dr. Freddie T. Bernal (Former Regional Director, CHED ROV & VPAA, Osmena Colleges, Masbate City) delivered the keynote speech, while Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr., CESO III (Director IV, CHED ROV) provided an inspirational message and led the induction of the newly elected officers of CODTE-V. Notably, CoTEd Dean Dr. Garcia, Jr. was elected as the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the organization for the term 2025-2027.


In addition, Dr. Rose Marie A. Arao (ES II, CHED ROV & CODTE Adviser) shared updates regarding the current issues and challenges in the teacher education landscape.


The activity aimed to enhance the relevance and excellence in teacher education through the dynamic leadership of deans, academic heads, program heads/chairs/coordinators; revitalize their roles in producing quality graduates; and elect new CODTE officers for 2025-2027. (SorSU PIO)
