SorSU declares academic break on Oct. 27-31, 2025

Pursuant to Office of the President (OP) Memorandum No. 64, s. 2025 and its addendum, Memorandum No. 65, s. 2025, Sorsogon State University, through the Office of the President, has announced the observance of an Academic Break from October 27-31, 2025, aligned with the approved academic calendar for AY 2025-2026.

According to the memorandum, all undergraduate, graduate, and laboratory high school classes shall be suspended during this period, while regular university operations will continue, excluding class-related activities.

The memorandum also directs that no academic tasks (assignments, projects, or assessments) shall be given during the break, thereby allowing students time for rest, self-care, personal growth, and participation in wellness activities.

To prevent learning gaps, faculty may adjust lessons in advance or within the remaining weeks of the semester, preferably through asynchronous modes, ensuring all competencies and course outcomes are completed within the semester.

Moreover, in accordance with the newly released Office of the President Memorandum No. 82, s. 2025, the Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement for teaching personnel is officially withdrawn. This new memorandum supersedes Memorandum No. 65, s. 2025, issued on September 23, 2025.

Additionally, the Academic Break period shall be treated as part of the proportional vacation credits for all teaching personnel and shall form part of the 84-day vacation credits.

SUC President III, Dr. President De Jesus, underscored that, as the Pamantasang May Puso, SorSU supports and upholds the well-being of students and faculty through the Academic Break, while remaining dedicated to the continuous fulfillment of its academic and institutional commitments. (SorSU PIO)
