Sorsogon State University – Department of Science and Technology (SorSU-DOST) scholars achieved national recognition at the National Student Research and Innovation Conference (NaSRIC) 2026, held virtually via Zoom on May 4-5, 2026.

Ms. Maria Catherine Bitbit (SorSU DOST-SA Deputy Director for Internal Affairs) was awarded Best Presenter under Track 8: Curriculum and Learning Programs for her research titled “Kotobee-Based E-Module in Waste Generation and Management Using a Problem-Based Learning Approach.”

Bitbit, together with her research team composed of Kyle Christian D. Belon, Josie F. Labayo, and Raven B. Niemo, also earned the Best Paper Award in their respective track. The team conducted their study under the supervision of their research adviser, Dr. Nestor L. Lasala Jr. (Org. Adviser, SorSU DOST SA).

SorSU proudly congratulates its scholars for earning top honors at the National Student Research and Innovation Conference 2026, recognizing their strong performance in research and innovation. The university likewise commends their research adviser for the mentorship and support that contributed to this achievement.

Also among the participating teams in the National Student Research and Innovation Conference (NaSRIC) 2026 were the following presenters: Trisha Bianca D. Balmaceda, Loraine Joy D. Dollesin, Jana Monica R. Briz, and John Alexis B. Sobrevinas for “TikTok-Based-Sized Instructional Videos in Stoichiometry for Grade 11 STEM Students”; and John Andrei D. Dino, Princess Nicole N. Francisco, Evan M. Jesalva for “The Red Dot: A Narrative Role-Playing Game for Addressing HIV-Related Misconceptions and Stigma Among Senior High School Students.” Dr. Nestor L. Lasala Jr. served as the adviser of both research teams.
