SorSU-DRRMO conducts Focused Group Discussions and Consultation on DRRM Concerns

The Sorsogon State University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (SorSU-DRRMO) under the supervision of Prof. Saturnino C. Carranza (Director, DRRMO) conducted a Focused Group Discussion and Consultation addressing key aspects of DRRM concerns, course offering, and DRRM building/institute, on June 27, 2024, at the SorSU Boardroom, Sorsogon City Campus.

The session began with a prayer via an audio-visual presentation. Prof. Carranza acknowledged and welcomed the participants, emphasizing the importance of their collective insights. A message from Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD (Vice President for Administration and Finance) underscored the importance of the discussions ahead while Prof. Carranza outlined the rationale behind convening the event.


Mr. Jaymark Samson (Head, Program Standards and Development) provided an overview of CHED requirements/Standards. Moreover, Dir. Eugene Gepte (Director, OCD & DRRM Training Institute); Ms. Aimee Menguilla (Acting Chief, Curriculum Development); Mr. Benito Salvador, Jr. (Chief, Disaster Risk Governance Division); Dir. Ramil “Doods” Marianito (PIA ROV Director), and the Local DRRMO Heads of Offices shared innovative ideas and practical suggestions.


The session covered topics such as Scholarships for DRRMO Faculty/Coordinators, organizing research conferences/colloquiums, DRRM & Climate Change Building/Institute, and other DRRM Related Research. The consultation culminated on a positive note, highlighting a shared commitment to advancing DRRM initiatives. (SorSU PIO)
