SorSU employees, students receive free health check-ups, lab services at PhilHealth-ROV’s First Patient Encounter activity

In line with the fifth-year implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law, the PhilHealth Regional Office V, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Health (DOH), and other stakeholders, spearheaded the First Patient Encounter activity on June 20, 2025, at the SorSU Social Hall, Sorsogon City Campus, with employees and students from Sorsogon State University (SorSU) as participating beneficiaries.

The event highlighted health profiling, consultation, prescription, dispensing of medicines and vitamins, and referrals for laboratory or X-ray examinations (if necessary). It also included PhilHealth Member Registration, updating of Member Data Records (MDR), issuance of PhilHealth Identification documents with updated MDR, and registration to a preferred Konsulta provider facility.

This year’s activity of PhilHealth-ROV extended its coverage to include not only indigent families, Indigenous communities, and senior citizens but also employed individuals and students aged 21 and above as part of its broader campaign to enhance the Universal Health Care service.
Such a meaningful healthcare initiative offered the University employees and students free access to essential health check-ups and laboratory services, enhancing their overall well-being and promoting improved health awareness within the SorSU community. (SorSU PIO)
