As part of the university’s efforts to provide more opportunities for SorSUenos, Sorsogon State University hosted a meeting with representatives from Japan International Human capital Development Organization (JIHDO) & J-CERT Philippines Association to discuss prospects for further cooperation, as well as opportunities for academic exchange, on November 27, 2024, at the SorSU Boardroom, Sorsogon City.
The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in exchange programs and Japanese language proficiency tests. One of the highlights of the meeting was the announcement that Sorsogon State University will serve as the official venue for the Japanese Language Proficiency Examination in the Philippines. This development positions the university as a central hub for administering the exam nationwide.
Additionally, a preliminary agreement was made to host Japanese language teachers at the university. This move is expected to strengthen the partnership between the university and J-CERT, and contribute to the growth and sustainable Japanese language program at the university.
The high-level dialogue was attended by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD (Vice President for Administration and Finance), Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, International Relations Office), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo (Dean, College of Technology), Ms. Marietta C. Sato (Representative, SorSU Nihongo Language Training Center), Atty. Mary Joy C. Bongapat (Acting Board Secretary), and Ms. Gloria B. Despuig (Budget Officer).
Also, in attendance during the meeting were, Mr. Hiroyuki Masuda (Director, J-CERT Philippines), Ms. Lorenel Masuda, and Mr. Kazunari Kishishita.
