SorSU gears up its preparations for upcoming accreditations, holds 4th Survey Phase 2 Visit Mock Accreditation for BSED, BT Programs

To ensure that the University programs are thoroughly prepared and adequately equipped for the upcoming accreditations, Sorsogon State University – Quality Assurance Office (SorSU-QA) successfully conducted the 4th Survey Phase 2 Visit Mock Accreditation for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) and Bachelor of Technology Programs on October 18, 2024, at the SorSU New Boardroom, Sorsogon City Campus.

The activity formally commenced with a welcome message from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, followed by the presentation of the panel of evaluators, which included Dr. Arnel B. Millesca (SUC President III, Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology/AACCUP Inc. Board of Trustees Member), presented by Dr. Errol G. De Castro (Head, Program & Institutional Accreditation).


Further, the Presentation of the Narrative Profile of the Bachelor of Technology (BT) was discussed by Prof. Maricel A. Dichoso along with Research; Mr. Alvin Z. Grulla on Teaching and Learning; Prof. Ana Cristina G. Fortes on Community Service and Impact; Mr. Nestor G. Gutiza, Jr. on International Linkages and Consortia; and Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo on Planning Process.


Meanwhile, the Narrative Profile of the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Program likewise consisted of presentations on the following areas: (1) Planning Process by Prof. Aldrin John J. Estonanto; (2) Research by Mr. Vincent Marion D. Oro; (3) Teaching and Learning by Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr.; (4) Community Service and Impact by Prof. Anabell A. Manga; and (5) International Linkages and Consortia by Prof. Rialyn L. Dogcol.


As one of the members of the Mock Accreditation Evaluators, DEBESMSCAT President Millesca shared insightful pointers and best practices that the University could adopt and highlight for the upcoming accreditations. Moreover, Dr. Millesca commended the said activity, emphasizing that mock accreditation is one of the best practices of SorSU-QA.
The activity is designed to simulate the actual accreditation processes, allowing the officials, faculty, and staff to identify strengths and areas for improvement within the program. It also aims to further enhance the University’s readiness, foster continuous improvement, and guarantee compliance with the standards set by accrediting bodies. During the mock accreditation, the participants received constructive feedback from evaluators, which could assist them in their preparations for actual accreditation visits.


Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort, (VP for Academic Affairs), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director-SorSU Sorsogon City) and faculty observers from both College of Teacher Education (CoTEd) and the College of Technology (CoT) led by Dr. Garcia, Jr. (CoTEd Dean) and Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo (CoT Dean), respectively, Dr. Jenet B. Fuentes (Director-Quality Assurance), Dr. Leny D. Berdin (CAO-Finance) and other SorSU faculty also attended the said activity. (SorSU PIO)
