Themed “Sustain, Synergize, Succeed: Strengthening Research for a Progressive Future,” Sorsogon State University – Graduate School (SorSU-GS), successfully organized its 4th Research Colloquium virtually via Zoom Meeting, held on April 26-27, 2025.

The two-day colloquium commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), followed by a message from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus.

A highlight of this year’s colloquium was the keynote speech by Dr. Ruanni F. Tupas (University College London, UK), in which he underscored that sustainable research begins with the problems people face, not the gaps in literature.

Dr. Tupas emphasized, “Research should not just analyze but also serve and empower… When talking about sustainable research, we always have to think about the welfare of the people we are researching with, not just researching on.”

During the two-day event, presenters showcased their groundbreaking studies through paper presentations across four main research tracks, to wit: (1) Qualitative; (2) Quantitative; (3) Developmental; and (4) Mixed Method/Action Research. The esteemed evaluators were introduced by Dr. Sherill A. Gilbas (Program Chair, PhD Language Education), Dr. Ritzelda A. Deri (Program Chair, PhD Math/MAED & SDS Coordinator), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Program Chair, Master of Arts of Teaching), and Dr. Gerry S. Digo (Program Chair, EdD-ELM/MED/MAM-AS & Head, SorPReCe), respectively.

Day 2 featured an insightful plenary lecture by Dr. Julius C. Martinez (Niigata University of International and Information Studies Japan).
