Sorsogon State University (SorSU) recognized the achievements of its Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Architecture graduates during the 33rd Commencement Exercises held on June 8, 2026, at the Sorsogon Convention Center. The ceremony was conducted under the theme, “Class of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners.”

The program commenced with the academic procession and the entrance of the university mace, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, a doxology by the Himig SorSUenos, and a musical overture performed by the SorSU Marching Band.

The candidates for graduation were formally presented and certified by Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus). SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, subsequently conferred the degrees and introduced the commencement speaker, Dr. Sanjay P. Claudio, MNSA, CESE (Quality Assurance Director, Polytechnic University of the Philippines).

In his message, Dr. Claudio said, “Piliin niyo ang tama kahit mahirap… Be kind whenever possible, but never compromise what is right. In engineering, in architecture, in midwifery, integrity is not an abstract value. It is a daily responsibility. Integrity is choosing accuracy over convenience. Integrity is refusing to compromise safety for profit. Integrity is taking responsibility for mistakes and learning from them. Integrity is doing excellent work even when no one is watching you.”

Diplomas were awarded to the graduates by the university officials and the commencement speaker, signifying the graduates’ fulfillment of academic requirements and their readiness to enter their respective professions. The graduates also took the Pledge of Loyalty, administered by Dr. Perry F. Carpio (President, Faculty Federation). This was followed by their induction into the SorSU Alumni Association, led by Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (President, SorSU Alumni Federation).

The Pamantasang May Puso extends its congratulations to the BS Midwifery, BS Engineering & Architecture Class of 2026 for successfully completing their academic programs. The university commends their dedication and perseverance in meeting the requirements of their degrees and wishes them success as they begin their professional careers. (SorSU PIO)
