SorSU Human Resource Management & Development Office conducts onboarding session for newly hired employees

The Human Resource Management and Development Office under the leadership of Prof. Abner L. Dellosa, RGC (Head, HRMDO) orchestrated an onboarding session for the newly hired non-teaching and teaching staff on April 26, 2024 at the Sorsogon State University Old Board Room.

The onboarding session was designed to acquaint the new hires with policies, guidelines, and rules of the university while also providing them with valuable insights to facilitate their smooth integration into the institution’s culture.

The event commenced with an inspiring message from SUC President III Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. She encouraged the newly hired staff to develop and sustain personal and professional qualities as well as positive attitudes that will make them indispensable to the university.
In her message, she said “as employees of a government institution, the main reason we were hired is to first and foremost serve the public. And since we are already given this opportunity, we are expected to accomplish our duties with consideration and courtesy. I am enjoining all of you to do your best in performing your roles as new employees of our university.”

Following this, Prof. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque (Director, OSDS) delved into the Vision, Mission, Core Values and Quality Statement of the university. Dr. Ma. Sylisa J. Estur (Chief Administrative Officer – Administrative Division) then presented the organizational hierarchy by introducing the university key officials and their respective roles. Prof. Shirley G. Dicen (Head, International Organization for Standardization) centered her discourse on ISO awareness, underscoring the university’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Mrs. Rosalie D. Labitag (Supervising Administrative Officer-Finance Division) gave an overview of Accounting & Finance Services, emphasizing the importance of fiscal stewardship and resource optimization. Meanwhile, Prof. Abner L. Dellosa (Head, Human Resources Management & Development Office) discussed salaries, benefits, privileges and deduction policies (attendance, leaves, service credits), as well as outlining the employees’ duties & responsibilities.

Dr. Maria Lourdes G. Barroso (University Registrar) concluded the onboarding session with heartfelt closing remarks, extending a warm welcome to the newly hired employees and expressing hope that they would make meaningful contributions to the university’s quest for institutional advancement.
