On May 21, 2026, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Office of Extension & Training Services (OET), headed by Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, OET), spearheaded a Mass Baptism and Confirmation activity for residents of Sitio Quirino, Barangay Buhatan, Sorsogon City, in line with the university’s outreach and community development initiatives.
The event was attended by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero (1st District Representative, Sorsogon Province), Hon. Mayor Ester E. Hamor (City Mayor, Sorsogon), and Hon. Edwin Divina (Punong Barangay, Barangay Buhatan), who expressed support for continued collaboration in programs and initiatives that benefit the community.
President De Jesus served as the godmother to 17 individuals who received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. As part of the celebration, she gave each of them cakes as a simple gesture of support and encouragement, making the occasion more meaningful for them and their families. Congresswoman Escudero and City Mayor Hamor also joined in the effort to make the celebration more special for the recipients.
The outreach activity reflects SorSU’s commitment to implementing extension initiatives that promote social responsibility, civic engagement, and holistic community development among its partner communities. (SorSU PIO)
