In another outstanding academic achievement, Sorsogon State University proudly congratulates and commends SorSU – Laboratory High School (SorSU-LHS) Grade 8 students Micka Deri and Maemi Maria Philippe J. Renovalles for bagging silver medals, and Dave Wilfred Yao for garnering bronze during the Asian Science and Math Olympiad (ASMO) 2024 National Round – English Category held online on October 13, 2024.
Consisting of the following topics in the English Category — Idioms and Proverbs, Vocabulary, Phrasal Verbs, Synonyms, Comprehension [Subjective], Cloze Test, Error Identification & Correction [Subjective], True or False Statements, Prepositions, Adverbs [Subjective], Suffix and Prefix [Subjective], and Tenses — the SorSU-LHS students delivered excellent performances during the online competition, thus earning two silver medals and one bronze. Notably, the three student-medalists successfully qualified for the final/international round, which will take place in Thailand in 2025.
Further, the University also expresses its warm congratulations to the student-awardees’ dedicated coach, Ms. Sophia Millen B. Tena (SorSU-LHS faculty), for her commitment, guidance, and mentorship.
In reference, the Asian Science and Math Olympiad (ASMO) 2024 is a competition platform that aims to challenge and assess students’ knowledge in Mathematics and Science as well as English based on their grade level (Global Olympiads Academy, n.d.).
Once again, the SorSU community proudly celebrates the academic feats of Micka, Maemi, & Dave; as well as extends its appreciation to Coach Tena, Prof. Mari Flora J. Renovalles (Department Head, SorSU-LHS), and the entire SorSU – Laboratory High School! (SorSU PIO)
