SorSU-Magallanes Campus hosts groundbreaking ceremony for its new 3-storey Administration Building

Under the leadership of Sorsogon State University (SorSU) President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SorSU-Magallanes Campus (SorSU-MC) commenced the construction of a 3-storey Administration Building through a ceremonial groundbreaking activity held at the SorSU-MC grounds on April 18, 2024.

Alongside University Officials, faculty, and students, the activity began with a holy mass followed by preliminaries. Next, SorSU-MC Campus Director Prof. Lynn C. Mendoza welcomed the attendees, here she emphasized that this Administration Building will serve as the nerve center of the institution, housing the offices and facilities that support the administrative, operational, and strategic functions of the university.

“The construction of the Administration Building signifies our commitment to enhancing the infrastructure of the university and providing a conducive environment for academic excellence, research, and community engagement… We envision this building not just as a physical structure but as a symbol of our collective aspirations and ambitions, it will be a place where ideas are born, decisions are made and dreams are realized. A place that reflects your values of integrity, inclusivity, innovation, and excellence.”

In her message, President De Jesus highlighted that this is a celebration of achieved goals. “Today we are indeed celebrating happiness… My heart is full today because little by little my dreams and aspirations for SorSU are becoming a reality”.

She recalled that at the start of her term as President, she had envisioned several infrastructure developments for the university, and she witnessed how little by little her aspirations are being achieved. Dr. De Jesus continued that the Magallanes Campus will be celebrating another milestone due to its soon-to-be-completed SorSU-MC Main Gate. Dr. De Jesus mentioned that a series of inaugurations for other facilities to be constructed across campuses of the university will be conducted in the coming days. The President also informed the audience that the SorSU-MC will soon have a covered court.

“This is not possible without the support of every one of you. (And) I always believe that in the eyes of God, if He can feel and see that everyone is supporting each other, indeed He will be giving us abundant blessings. Let us continue to help each other“, Dr. De Jesus said in closing.

Afterward, the groundbreaking tradition was then led by Dr. De Jesus together with, Prof. Mendoza, and Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City), Dr. Leny D. Berdin (Chief Administrative Officer – Finance Division) Engr. Daryll M. Hita (Project Management Office) and Mr. Gerry Acdal.

This ceremony marks another integral part in the pursuit of excellence in the quality services of the Magallanes Campus. SorSU will continue to strive for infrastructure advancement for the benefit of its employees, students, clients, and stakeholders. (SorSu PIO)
