Sorsogon State University President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus attended the launching ceremony for the Bicol University’s First Innovation Fest (BU FINEST) 2023, on October 24, 2023 at the BU Founders Park.
The BU FINEST is centered on the theme “Transcending Innovations for Sustainable Societies” and will run from October 24-27, 2023. It was spearheaded by the BU Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), through the Center for Technology Commercialization and Enterprise Development and the Intellectual Property Management Division. Furthermore, the event features activities such as exhibits, booth bazaars and live technology demonstrations; it also displays an array of products and services.
Before the main event, Dr. De Jesus made a courtesy visit to the Office of the President of Bicol University, meeting up with Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres, III (BU SUC President IV) and PASUC V Presidents. Together, they welcomed CHED Commissioner and SorSU Board of Regents Chairperson, Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag who was set to give an inspirational message to the attendees in the program proper.
During the ceremony, President De Jesus witnessed the Ribbon Cutting for the opening of the Agri-Aqua Exhibit & Fair and the Inaugural Ceremony of the Techno-Entrepreneurship Commercialization (TEC) Hub. This was followed by the Bicol Consortium Regional Startup Enablers (BiCoRSE) ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Bicol University, other partner universities, institutions, agencies, and organizations, at the Governor’s Mansion, Legazpi City. President De Jesus together with the PASUC V and other agencies also visited the Office of the Province of Albay Governor Atty. Edcel ‘Grex’ Lagman.
Moreover, President De Jesus also took the opportunity to visit Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training Services), Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, Castilla Campus), Prof. Elden G. Orgela and Ms. Sheila Duka at the Regional Extension Colloquium at Legazpi City. In the said Colloquium, Prof. Elden G. Orgela won 1st Place in Paper Presentation, 3rd Place for Best Poster and 3rd Best Presenter under Thematic Area – Capability Enhancement, Livelihood and Financial Literacy Training for the paper titled “𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰-𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴/𝘍𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘴 (𝘍/𝘍): 𝘈 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺-𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘳𝘨𝘺.
