SorSU-ROTC Units celebrate Joint ROTC Graduation and Turn-Over of Command Ceremony with 610 basic cadet graduates, 37 advance cadet graduates

With a record of 610 basic ROTC cadet graduates and 37 advance cadet graduates, Sorsogon State University – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SorSU-ROTC) Units, comprising of Sorsogon City Campus, Bulan Campus, and Castilla Campus, organized a university-wide Joint ROTC Graduation and Turn-Over of Command Ceremony on June 6, 2025, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus.

The ROTC graduation rites formally commenced with a welcome message from Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs). SSG Marlon L Rubios (MS) PA (Chief Clerk, ROTC Sorsogon City Campus), SSG Romeo G Estrella Jr (INF) PA (Chief Clerk, ROTC Bulan Campus), and SGT Joel K Llagas (ARM) PA (Chief Clerk, ROTC Castilla Campus) facilitated the presentation of candidates for graduation, while the declaration of graduates was led by LTC CLIFF Chester L De Campo GSC (INF) PA (ROTC Commandant). Notably, MAJ Kathleen R Endrano (FS) PA (5O5th CDC Director) delivered the keynote address.

The University recorded a total of 399 ROTC graduates from Sorsogon City Campus (379 basic cadet graduates & 20 advance cadet graduates). Bulan Campus produced 145 ROTC graduates (133 basic cadets and 12 advance cadets), while Castilla Campus had 98 basic cadets and five advance cadets, a total of 103 graduates.

The ceremonies highlighted the awarding of medals and certificates to respective Honor ROTC cadets across three campuses and the presentation of special awards: Leadership Award, Duty Award, Loyalty Award, and OPORD Award.

Meanwhile, the activity also included the Turn-Over of Command of three campuses, which featured the Reading of Relinquishment and Assumption Order ROTC by SSG Marlon L Rubios (MS) PA (Chief Clerk, ROTC Sorsogon City Campus), the Relinquishment of Command between the outgoing corps commander and incoming corps commander, the Assumption of Command, the Turn-Over of Command Symbol, a message from the activated ROTC Unit outgoing corps commander, and a message from the newly installed ROTC corps commander.

Further, it was followed by the acceptance of new reservists and an oath-taking ceremony. The ceremonies concluded with the mass singing of the SorSU Hymn and Pilipinas Kong Mahal, as well as a fancy drill performance. (SorSU PIO)
