A total of 2,845 Sorsogon State University – National Service Training Program (NSTP) completers under the Civil Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) components were presented as Graduating Class of 2024 and officially confirmed by Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon Campus) during the NSTP Completion Rites of SorSU – Sorsogon City Campus today, June 13, 2024, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus, bearing the theme, “Rising Strong: Embracing Resilience, Empowering Change, and Encouraging the Students to Continue their Volunteerism and Resilience as Forces for Social Change.”
With College of Business and Management (CBM) as well as College of Teacher Education and Midwifery (CoTEdM) students as the attendees in the morning session, the activity commenced with an opening message from the Sorsogon City Campus Director, Dr. Escoto, followed by the respective messages from Dr. Maria Luisa P. Mirasol (Dean, CBM) and Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, CoTEdM).
Ms. Mary Rose P. Lacdang (NSTP Coordinator, Sorsogon City Campus) presented the 1,172 NSTP – CWTS and LTS candidates for graduating class of 2024, with 869 from the CBM (BSENTREP – 259; BSHM – 295; BSTM – 296; BS Accountancy – 19), while 303 are CoTEdM students (BEED – 38; BSED – 83; BPED – 26; BSNED – 37; BTVTED – 34; BCAED – 13; BS Midwifery – 72). In response, Dr. Escoto, by the virtue vested in him as the Campus Director of the Sorsogon City Campus by the Board of Regents, officially confirmed the NSTP graduates.
Hon. Justin Dones (SK Federation Vice Chairman, Sorsogon City), the esteemed Keynote Speaker of the ceremony, underscored in his message that the completers’ NSTP services are a testament to the power of education in social activism and the impact each individual can have in others by teaching, mentoring, and volunteering.
“You have not only shared knowledge and extended help but also inspired hope and empowerment… As you celebrate your achievement today, take a moment to reflect on [the] difference you have made and [the] potential you hold to continue making a positive impact.”
Subsequently, the awarding of certificates was facilitated by Hon. Dones, Campus Director Escoto, Ms. Lacdang, Dean Garcia, and Dean Mirasol. KAAGAPAY NSTP Volunteers President Cherry Jeron delivered the Message of Gratitude, whereas the Pledge of Commitment and Volunteerism was led by Mr. Mark Darrel A. Ergina (DRR & CC Coordinator). The morning session of the completion rites concluded with a closing message from NSTP Coordinator, Ms. Lacdang.
Meanwhile, the afternoon graduation ceremony featured a total of 1,673 NSTP graduates from the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) and College of Technology (COT), consisting of 102 BSME, 101 BSEE, 53 BSECE, 96 BSCE, and 61 BS Architecture students as well as 236 BT Automotive, 177 BT Architectural Drafting, 86 BT Civil, 196 BT Electronics, 104 Garments, 202 BT Mechanical, and 73 BT WAF students.
