Upon the recommendation of the ISO auditor following the ISO Second Surveillance Audit last August 8-11, 2023, which identified the necessity for the conduct of a strategic direction review to realize the goals of the institution, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), headed by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, conducted a two-day Annual Strategic Plan Review from September 28-29, 2023, at the SorSU University Library.
Spearheaded by Prof. Shirley G. Dicen (Head, ISO) and in partnership with Dr. Catherine A. De Castro (Director, Planning Management), the event began with a welcome message from University President, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and followed by the statement of purpose delivered by Dr. De Castro.
Dr. Lydia L. Taganguin (Trainer/Consultant), the distinguished resource speaker of the event, delivered an insightful presentation and discussion on the 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 and 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨. Following the informative discussion, the participants engaged in a workshop focused on 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨.
Meanwhile, the afternoon session highlighted topics including 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 – 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 – 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙨 – 𝙏𝙖𝙜𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙒𝙊𝙏 – 𝙋𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙇𝙀 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨, subsequently succeeded by another workshop on 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨.
On the other hand, Day 2 of the event is comprised of topics regarding the 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 & 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙈𝙖𝙥 and a third workshop centered on the 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙤𝙛 𝙊𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨 for the morning session, whereas the afternoon activity will feature Quality Policy Enhancement and a fourth workshop with emphasis on 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣.
To facilitate these activities, University top executives including SorSU vice presidents, key officials, campus directors, staff directors, unit heads, deans, and selected program chairs were organized into four groups for the aforementioned series of workshops.
The two-day event is a vital preparation stage intended to shape the University’s strategic plan, which shall establish the foundation for attaining its desired outcomes for 2024 onward. (SorSU PIO)
