With the aim to showcase the beauty, creativity, and wit & grit of SorSUenos proudly representing their respective units/colleges, Sorsogon State University – Sports, Culture and Arts Services Unit, through its SorSU Sports Unit – Sorsogon City Campus, successfully held the Search for Mr. and Ms. SorSU 2024, both high school and college categories last March 14, 2024, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus, with Mr. John Neil B. Fulgueras, from the College of Business and Management (House of Golden Phoenix), and Ms. Flourenze Faye Sanin from the College of Teacher Education and Midwifery (House of Navy Falcons) as the newly-crowned Mr. and Ms. SorSU 2024, respectively.
As one of the key highlights of this year’s SorSU Games bearing the theme, “Honing Skills, Fostering Camaraderie in the Pamantasang May Puso,” competition formally began with the opening remarks of Ms. Shayne Kate A. Gozo (University Coordinator, Culture and Arts), on behalf of Engr. Clifford G. Gaton (Sorsogon City Campus Sports Coordinator) as well as the introduction of the panel of judges, namely, Mr. John Michael Andrew Solomon (Former Choreographer and School Pageant Organizer – Barcelona, Sorsogon [2010-2014], Former President of Future PEHM Mentors [2013], Member of ALTA – Alyansa ng Lipunang Tanggap Ako); Dr. Ramesis M. Lorino (Registrar at the Bicol University); Ms. Justine Joy E. Bornel (Artist/Art Teacher/Entrepreneur, Miss Sorsogon State College 2017, & Miss Kasanggayahan Kalikasan 2019); Mr. John Mark L. Musni (Educator/Visual Artist/Pageant Enthusiast & Reigning SDO Sorsogon’s Most Beautiful Teacher 2023); and Mr. Karlo Caballas Malvarosa (Mr. Teen World Universe Media – held in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam, Awardee in Star Pop Awards as an Outstanding Teen Star Advocate in Bangkok, Thailand, & Awardee of Asia’s Soft Power Award as a Rising Star in Thailand).
The much-anticipated Search for Mr. & Ms. SorSU 2024 featured two pairs of official candidates per unit/college, who were aesthetically introduced in their awe-inspiring creative attires. Moreover, the pageant segments also included the Production Number, School Uniform Parade, Sportswear Attire, Swimwear Attire, Formal Wear & Long Gown, Final Question & Answer, and the Final Walk of the Top 5 Finalists.
Moreover, Mr. Adrian Nebreja, the 8th-time Defending Champion during the daily rounds and Semi-Finalist in Tawag ng Tanghalan sa Showtime Season 6, likewise graced the event and entertained the audience with his musical brilliance.
