As a concluding activity for the rigorous three-day 4th Survey Phase 2 Visit AACCUP Online Program Accreditation for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) and the Bachelor of Technology (BT) by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Sorsogon State University (SorSU) top management officials, accreditation task force, and working committees convened for the event’s closing program, held on December 11, 2024 with a hybrid platform at the SorSU Boardroom and SorSU Dormtel and online through Zoom Meeting.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs) highlighted that the insights gained from the accreditation process not only affirm SorSU’s achievements but will also serve as a basis for determining strategic initiatives to continuously enhance its programs. VPAA Ricafort remarked, “We will consider this feedback not merely as a checklist, but rather as a roadmap that will guide us toward excellence and achievement of our mission and vision.”
The overall impressions for the two evaluated academic programs were delivered by Dr. Alonzo L. Mortejo (AACCUP Team, Inc. Team Leader, BSEd Program) and Dr. Mayleen Dorcas B. Castro (AACCUP Team, Inc. Team Leader, BT Program). Dr. Mortejo commended the proactive efforts and dedication of the University officials, educators, and stakeholders toward academic quality and institutional effectiveness.
“Their unwavering commitment to offering innovation, strengthening international linkages, and enhancing community service has established a strong foundation for continuous improvement.”
He emphasized, “The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) program demonstrates excellence in various areas, ensuring a comprehensive preparation for future educators.
Meanwhile, Dr. Castro, in her impressions of the BT program, underscored that SorSU showcases steadfast dedication to delivering quality education and fostering innovation through its diverse Bachelor of Technology programs.
“The University’s effort in promoting technical expertise to students with relevant skills are highly commendable. Its initiative in teaching, research, and community engagement reflects its holistic approach to education and societal impact.”
In response, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, on behalf of the University, extended her profound appreciation to the esteemed AACCUP accreditors for their unparalleled commitment to assessing the two programs. SorSU President De Jesus also added that the observations will definitely be taken as a guide to further enhance and refine its program offerings and systems toward achieving higher standards of academic excellence.
“As the University head, together with my hardworking team from the College of Technology (COT) and the College of Teacher Education (CoTEd), we commit ourselves to comply wholeheartedly with all your recommendations and suggestions.”
The closing messages of the activity were provided by Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, CoTEd) and Dr. Orlando D. Doncillo (Dean, COT), where both expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished panel of accreditors, task force members, working committees, and key officials for the event’s success.
