Centered on the theme “Advancing SUC Unity, Elevating Sports Excellence for Sustainable Development,” the Sorsogon State University (SorSU) delegation, alongside Bicol Region participating SUCs, joined the grand parade of the 2025 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games, marking the official kickoff of the six-day annual national sports competition, held on April 23, 2025.
With Camiguin Polytechnic State College as this year’s host SUC, in coordination with the Provincial Government of Camiguin, the Association of State Universities and Colleges Region X, and the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools Incorporated (MASTS), the grand opening parade featured active participation from the SCUAA Executive Committee (ExeCom), the SCUAA Management Committee (ManCom), working committees, and 16 participating regional delegations across the country, including 531 delegates from Region V (333 athletes, 84 coaches, and 114 officials & support staff).
The opening ceremonies highlighted the hoisting of the PASUC flag, the National SCUAA banner, as well as the regional flags. This was followed by the lighting of the Athletic Urn — a beacon of sportsmanship — symbolizing the unparalleled passion, excellence, and spirit of athletes; the oath of sportsmanship; and the oath of officiating officials. Further, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo (PASUC President) declared the formal opening of the 2025 National SCUAA Games. The ceremonies culminated with a performance called Glimpse of Lanzones Festival by Mambajao National High School.
Throughout the 6-day event, athletes from 113 participating SUCs nationwide will engage and compete in various sports competitions, showcasing their skills, excellence, and sportsmanship.
SorSU key officials, headed by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, demonstrated steadfast and unified and support for the SorSUeno student-athletes and coaches during the parade and opening ceremonies, underscoring the University’s commitment to holistic development, camaraderie, and unity.
