SorSU’s three academic programs undergo AACCUP Online Program Accreditation Revisit

In line with its strong commitment to delivering high-quality education and continuously enhancing its services, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) is currently undergoing a three-day Online Program Accreditation Revisit for its three (3) curricular programs: the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Information System (BSAIS) and the Bachelor in Entrepreneurship (BSE) under the Bulan Campus, as well as the Master in Education – Major in Educational Management (MED-EM) under the SorSU-Graduate School, conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from November 11-13, 2024, via online platform through Zoom Meeting.

In a video presentation, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, emphasized in her welcome remarks that the revisit is also an opportunity for the University to further strengthen its program components that still require enhancement and upgrades. SorSU President De Jesus added, “Again, this is definitely advantageous to us since we envision our institution as a research university committed to serving our stakeholders and local communities through outreach programs.”


Afterward, the University key officials & unit heads were presented via an audio-visual presentation (AVP). Meanwhile, Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU-Bulan Campus) and Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, SorSU-Graduate School) introduced the campus officials and task force members, respectively.


Dr. Mary Chris A. Austria (AACCUP, Inc. Lead Accreditor BSAIS) provided the statement of purpose and overview of the event, and also introduced the esteemed panel of AACCUP, Inc. Accreditors, which includes: Dr. Austria (AACCUP, Inc. Lead Accreditor) for BSAIS Program; Dr. Marilou P. Pascual (AACCUP, Inc. Lead Accreditor) for BSE Program); and Dr. Marinel P. Dayawon (AACCUP, Inc. Lead Accreditor) for MED-EM Program.


Further, an intermission performance featuring folk and pop music by Instrumentos de Cordo entertained the virtual attendees during the opening program, showcased through an audio-visual presentation (AVP).


The morning session of AACCUP Accreditation Day 1 also consisted of an orientation meeting on the accreditation and validation activities by AACCUP, Inc., while the afternoon activity focused on the seminar proper and Q&A portion. (SorSU PIO)
