Team Philippines hailed as Overall Champion at Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) 2024 – International Round in Vietnam — 8 SorSU Lab High students participated; seized 2 diamonds, 3 golds, and 3 silvers

Triumphing over other Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, Team Philippines, represented by seventy-six (76) student-participants including eight (8) contenders from Sorsogon State University – Laboratory High School (SorSU-LHS), victoriously emerged on top as the OVERALL CHAMPION during the Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) 2024 – International Round, where SorSU-LHS students remarkably bagged two (2) diamond medals, three (3) gold medals, and three (3) silver medals, held at the Royal Lotus Hotel Danang, Da Nang, Vietnam, from April 27-30, 2024.

Relatively, the international round of the competition for secondary levels covered reading comprehension (noting details in a story, context clues, characterization, figurative language, idiomatic expressions, predicting outcomes, & inferences); analogy (single-word analogy & double-word analogy); vocabulary & spelling; grammar & correct usage (parts of speech, subject-verb agreement, usage of phrases & punctuation marks); and essay writing categories. Moreover, the competition recorded a total of over 400 competing participants.

Further, the SorSU-LHS students were accompanied by their coaches, Ms. Frances Grace J. Jetomo and Ms. Christine D. Romorosa, alongside the respective parents/family members of the five student-participants.
