The Artificer bags 3 awards as Bicol rep at LHEPC ’25

The Artificer, the official student publication of Sorsogon State University – Sorsogon City Campus, was among the student publications that represented the Bicol Region during the 20th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) held at Batis Aramin Hotel and Resort, Lucban, Quezon Province, from April 2 to 4, 2025, bagging three major awards in individual categories.

Following their win in the 22nd Regional Tertiary Schools Press Conference (RTSPC), The Artificer’s delegates showcased their journalistic prowess in various categories during the LHEPC, competing alongside campus journalists from higher education institutions across Luzon.

With the theme “Journalists as Game Changers in the Digital Revolution,” the 20th LHEPC gathered 1,074 participants from 151 schools across seven regions: Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 1 (Ilocos Region), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4-A (CALABARZON), Region 4-B (MIMAROPA), and Region 5 (Bicol Region).

Notably, the event welcomed guest participants from Cebu City and introduced special digital-focused categories such as Editorial Cartooning, Comic Strip Drawing, Literary Graphics Illustration, and Infographics—a nod to the evolving field of journalism in the digital age.
