Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the collective effort of the Office of the Quality Assurance, headed by Dr. Jenet B. Fuentes (Director, QA), the SorSU-Accreditation Task Force, and Accreditation Working Committees, successfully concluded the three-day Online Program Accreditation Revisit for its three (3) curricular programs (BSAIS, BSE, & MED-EM) with a virtual closing program through Zoom Meeting today, November 13, 2024.
Dr. Mary Chris A. Austria (AACCUP, Inc. Lead Accreditor BSAIS), in her Program & Overall Impressions, emphasized that advancing the university’s academic reputation, both nationally and globally, necessitates the active involvement of faculty members in research initiatives and the strengthening of partnership with national and international institutions. She noted that such collaborations not only improve the quality and relevance of academic programs but also offer innovative solutions to pressing community challenges.
Dr. Austria concluded, “I look forward to seeing Sorsogon State University (SorSU) reach even greater heights. On behalf of the AACCUP Accreditation Team who evaluated the MED-EM, BSAIS, and BSE, we want to thank everyone who participated in this survey visit — the officials, the faculty members, students, and other stakeholders — our warmest congratulations to everyone for a job well done!”
As a response, Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD (Vice President for Administration and Finance), in his Acceptance and Pledge of Commitment, expressed the University’s full acceptance of the comments and suggestions from the AACCUP team, noting that their inputs will provide the necessary guidance the academe needs as it continues to aspire for excellence through improved program offerings.
VPAF Fulay added, “I pledge commitment that these observations and recommendations of our respected accreditors will be positively acted upon with a sense of urgency.”
After an intermission performance of Himig SorSUenos via an audio-visual presentation (AVP), the virtual presentation of certificates of recognition for the esteemed panel of AACCUP accreditors followed. The ceremony culminated with a closing message from Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU-Bulan Campus).
Campus Director Demdam remarked, “As we close this chapter, let us carry forward the insights we have gained, and use them as [a] foundation for continuous improvement. The lessons learned during this revisit will guide us in advancing not only the quality of our programs but also the way in which we serve and empower our community.” (SorSU PIO)
