In its steadfast commitment to transparent governance, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus attended the prestigious Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting Philippines 2025 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on February 6, 2025.
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the Civil Society of the Philippines jointly hosted the event, which gathered high-level government decision-makers, civil society leaders, and policymakers from across the region, OGP members and non-members, as well as global and regional partners to engage in several key plenary sessions centered on leadership, transparency, accountability, and civic participation. The attendees also participated in dialogues focused on reinvigorating open government in the Asia Pacific Region.
Furthermore, His Excellency President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. graced the meeting and delivered the keynote message, highlighting the massive role of stakeholder partnerships in initiating efficient and excellent government transparency. The President also reiterated the new government procurement act, which is the biggest anti-corruption measure of the administration. Along with this, President Marcos emphasized the powerful role of collaboration in addressing government challenges.
SorSU is one of four State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from the Bicol Region that participated in the event. Over 27 academia/SUCs, including the university, were in attendance. The other Bicol SUCs are Catanduanes State University (CatSU), Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), and Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST).
